Two Go Out West

On the West Coast, Exaggerator and Danzing Candy got in workouts at Santa Anita and San Luis Rey, respectively.
Exaggerator went five furlongs in 1:00.00 (5/28), handily, according to Santa Anita clockers. It was his first workout since winning the Santa Anita Derby.
Keith Desormeaux was happy, saying to Jeremy Balan of bloodhorse.com, "He’s progressing, not regressing. A lot of these horses, when they run big races, they regress."
Exaggerator ran a big race, indeed, in a Santa Anita Derby run on a sloppy track, leading jockey Kent Desormeaux to say he felt like the colt was wearing track shoes. Connections of Exaggerator certainly won't be disappointed if the track at Churchill Downs comes up wet on May 7.
Exaggerator's final work for the Kentucky Derby will be at the home of the Kentucky Derby. He's expected to arrive in Louisville on Wednesday.
At San Luis Rey, Danzing Candy delighted trainer Cliff Sise working six furlongs in a bullet 1:12.00 (1/11), handily, according to track clockers. Sise got the work going five furlongs in 1:00 with a six-furlong gallop-out in 1:12.00.
Sise on Danzing Candy: “I can’t believe how good he worked. He's been happier down here than at Santa Anita. Maybe he likes the fresh air."— Jeremy Balan (@BH_JBalan) April 23, 2016
Today's move was also Danzing Candy's first since the Santa Anita Derby, when he set a fast pace and faded to finish fourth at 8-5 odds.
