Stakes Winners Lead Field of 13 in Transylvania

Eh Cumpari and Night Prowler are two of several stakes winners headlining a field of 13 entered Monday for Friday's Transylvania Stakes Presented by Keeneland Select.

The 1 1/16-mile turf race serves as the first of 16 stakes during the 15-day Keeneland Spring Meet that runs through Friday, April 24. First post Friday is 1:05 p.m. ET.

Trained by Chad Brown, Night Prowler finished fifth in his most recent start as the favorite in the Palm Beach Stakes, won by Eh Cumpari. Javier Castellano has the mount on Night Prowler, who will break from post 9.

Eh Cumpari, trained by Michael Dilger, rallied from last in the field of nine to win the Palm Beach in his second start on grass. Robby Albarado will ride Eh Cumpari and exit post 3.

Two other stakes winners are in the field could be formidable. Luck of the Kitten won the Zuma Beach last fall at Santa Anita and was runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. Tuba comes in after winning the Black Gold in front-running fashion at long odds in February.

Trained by Wesley Ward, Luck of the Kitten will be making his 2015 debut and will be ridden by Mike Smith and break from post 10. Florent Geroux has the mount on Tuba, who will break from post 12 for trainer Anne Smith.
The field for the Transylvania, from the inside out, is as follows: Majestico (James Graham, 118 pounds), Saham (Paco Lopez, 118), Eh Cumpari (Albarado, 123), A Lot (John Velazquez, 118), Magic of Believing (Julien Leparoux, 118), Danish Dynaformer (Luis Contreras, 118), Tiz My Valentine (Francisco Torres, 118), Divisidero (Rafael Hernandez, 118), Night Prowler (Castellano, 118), Luck of the Kitten (Smith, 123), It’ll Be Fine (Joel Rosario, 118), Tuba (Geroux, 118) and Milwaukee Mist (Jose Lezcano, 118).
