After a last-place finish at 3-10 odds in the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes, The Great War will not be pushed forward on the Kentucky Derby Trail.

On Sunday morning, trainer Wesley Ward told Churchill Downs’ director of racing and racing secretary Ben Huffman that The Great War is off the Road to the Kentucky Derby.

The son of War Front that finished fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile bled through Lasix in the Battaglia, according to the Equibase chart.

Wagering on The Great War in Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager has been suspended.

The Derby pool will close today at 6:00 p.m. ET, and wagering on the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager will wrap up at 6:30 p.m. ET.
