Wagering, TV Ratings Up for Preakness

The Preakness day all-sources handle was up from last year, as was television viewership.

All-source handle was $81,940,233, a 1.8% increase from 2012. It's the sixth-highest total in the history of the race. Both years saw 13 races on the Preakness card.

Attendance was announced at 117,203, down 3.4% from 121,309 a year ago with the possibility of rain ever-present on Saturday.

Neilsen Company ratings say the broadcast drew a 6.0 overnight rating, up nine percent from 5.5 last year. The top two markets were Baltimore with a 15.7 rating and Louisville with a 15.0.
