All Others, the field of 3-year-olds other than the 23 individuals named in Pool 3 of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager, closed out the final day of wagering as the 5-1 favorite.
Verrazano was second in line at odds of 7-1. He also led Pool 1 at 11-1 and Pool 2 at 9-1. The leading names following Verrazano were all in double digits, with Itsmyluckyday and Vyjack at 10-1, Revolutionary at 12-1, Orb at 14-1, Flashback and Hear the Ghost at 15-1, Shanghai Bobby at 18-1 and Will Take Charge at 19-1.
The conclusion of the All Others wager at 5-1 compares to 2009 when it was a healthy 17-1, returning $36.80 when longshot Mine That Bird won the Derby. That win was a turning point in the makeup of Pool 3 wagering. In 2010, All Others closed at 9-2 in Pool 3, in 2011 the bet was 8-1 and in 2012 it was 6-1. The number of longshots winning or hitting the board in Derby preps so far this year has also undoubtedly fueled interest in the #24 wagering interest.
Wagering on win bets totalled $266,073, and exaxtas attracted $136,094, for a total of $402,167. That compares to $427,374 last year and the record of $533,973 bet in the 2005 Pool 3.
Pool 3 set a record in the exacta pool of $136,094.
The total for all three pools was $1,430,698, down from $1,470,019 last year. The record is $1,665,990 wagered in 2005.
