(Franklin, KY) Just as Ridgester looked like he was breaking away from the pack, Miz Ida ran jer down from the middle the turf course to win the Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf.

Run at a mile, the Ladies Turf produced a time of 1:50.46 on a course that remained in yielding -- and very tiring -- condition.

Miz Ida, a 6-1 morning line, had her odds cut in half by the betting public and paid $8.60, $4.80 and $3.60. Ridgster stayed on for second, followed by Affair Dabbler in third and Ruthville in fourth.

Miz Ida, a 3-year-old, beat her elders. It was her fifth win in eight starts; she's never finshed second or third. Shaun Bridgmohan was in the irons; Steve Margolis, no stranger to Kentucky Downs, is the winning trainer. The filly is owned by Richard, Bertram and Elaine Klein of Louisville.
