Before we get started, you should understand how we use certain terms when referencing the many pieces of Sitemason. When you first login to your Sitemason account, you will be presented with the Site Manager.
The Site Manager is the envelope of the Sitemason Content Management System. Everything you do to manage your website is done within the Site Manager. Within the Site Manager you will have one or more sections called Site Builders.
A Site Builder is another sort of envelope that groups pages (what we call Tools) into a common area. That can mean a group of Tools to constitute a website or a sub-section of a website, or just a grouping of off-line Tools. In the Site Builder you can change setting to control the group or site. Skip ahead to the Site Builder tutorial if you want to learn more. A Site Builder, as we said, will contain any number of Tools.
Tools are the equivalent of a page on your website. Sitemason has a number of different tools for you to use to accomplish different tasks for your website like the standard Page Builder tool, Custom Form tool, and specific tools for publishing news, photo galleries, and even a calendar. Finally, you will comprise your Tool with the actual content that is on your website. This content is created in the form of Elements. An Element could be a Paragraph in a Page Builder tool or a text field in a Custom Form tool or an image in a Photo Gallery tool.
To recap, the Hierarchy goes like this: Sitemason -> Site Manager -> Site Builder -> Tool -> Element, with elements comprising the content of your website.

The first step to using Sitemason tools is to create an account. Creating a trial account is free, easy, and requires nothing more than an email address! You can access the signup page by clicking on the "SIGN UP/LOG IN" button on the top right of the home page, or by going directly to http://www.Sitemason.com/signup.
Once on the signup page, you'll be asked to enter your email address. You can also enter contact information, which can be helpful for aiding with technical support. Once you've submitted your email address, you will be taken to your Site Manager.
