LCFS provides specific services to ensure that children have a safe, healthy and permanent home.

Family Preservation/Reunification is an intensive, culturally-sensitive, home-based program for children and youth returning home from placement. The goal is to reintegrate children back into their families and communities by supporting their parents’ progress. Services to Children in their Own Homes (SCOH) is a preventive and supportive service designed for children who are at-risk for removal from their homes. SCOH services are provided to address possible risks to children for abuse and/or neglect and supports parents who are willing to learn new ways to care for their children. Truancy Prevention partners with the Philadelphia Department of Human Services and the School District of Philadelphia to increase school attendance, improve communication between family and school, and support families by helping them to recognize their own strengths. Parenting Education and Empowerment Resource Program (PEER) helps parents increase parenting skills and find mutual support. The goal of the program is to improve parenting, coping and management skills in order to prevent child abuse and neglect. Nurse Family Partnership is a collaborative program between LCFS, Temple Health Connection, Temple University Department of Nursing and Eleventh Street Family Health Services of Drexel University. Through regularly scheduled home-visits, nurses offer high-risk adolescents and adult women assistance during their first pregnancy and until the child is two years old.
