Your Inner Light Shining

While at Vanderbilt I  became enamored with the craft of writing poetry, and the incredible power of language to convey thoughts and feelings. At the same time, I was fascinated with the concept of creating images, and with my first computer, began experimenting with film and video. My goal was to create a pure form of expression. I am fascinated with the concept of mind/brain and the neurology of our eyes to the physics of light. Today I work with pixels rather than pentameters.

I divide my work into two categories: visual poems and colorplay. My visual poems are inspired by struggles I find within myself as well as those I see in others. They are also prompted by the beautiful mysteries of our quantum world, and my own silent contemplations on life. They are intended to inspire introspection, meditation, and I hope...enlightenment.

Colorplay is about inspiring a sense of wonder--that moment when we say OOOH! It is in that moment that our hearts and minds open and we are freed from the everyday struggles of fear and doubt and the other difficulties of life. It is in that moment that we may catch a glimpse of the light shining within us. And seeing this light allows us to see the same wonderous light shining within everyone.

We are all so very much alike as human beings and yet we are all so wonderfully unique. I believe all great creations, whether art, music, literature or film, in some way remind us that we are not alone.
