Workshops 2008

The staff and volunteers of Mansker's Station are excited to offer workshops!  
These workshops are for all who are interested.

We do ask that all individuals interested in attending to please contact the site 
coordinator prior to the date of the workshop by calling 615.851.3210.
 




Workshops for 2008: 

Bible Box
Test your skills as a period carpenter by building your own "Bible Box." These are smaller (7"x10"), wooden boxes that can store a variety of things. Made of pine, students will have the option to stain or paint their box. All levels are welcome, and this project is great for beginners! This class is limited to 6 individuals; please contact Ashley Staley at 615.851.3210 to enroll!

The instructor, James Davis, is the co-owner of Middle Tennessee Greenwood Wrights. He is a member of the Upper Cumberland Furniture Guild and the Society of American Period Furniture Makers. A volunteer of Mansker's Station, James has also demonstrated his craftmenship at numerous historic sites and events including the Ellington Agriculture Museum, Dickson Old Timers Days, and Old Spencers Mill.

Time: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Cost: $35 (All Supplies Included)
Ages: 13+ (If under 16, a parent or legal guardian must be present.)
*Please bring a sack lunch.
*Registration deadline is Saturday, May 31. 
*The cost of this workshop includes a box made of pine. If you would like to construct your "Bible Box" out of oak, walnut, or cherry, please let us know upon registering and there is an increased cost.
