Your computer keeps a list of websites you visit on the internet. This
is called a history. What if you don't want other people to know what websites you
visited? You can erase the history from your computer. Look
at the list below and find the software you use to get on the internet.
Then follow the steps to erase the history.
Internet Explorer 4, 5, 6 (Windows)
1. Click on the "Tools" menu, then click on "Internet Options."
2. Click on "General" and then click on "Clear History."
3. When it asks "Are you sure you want Windows to delete your history of visited Web sites?" click "Yes."
4. Click on the button that says, "Delete Files..."
5. When it asks "Delete all files in the Temporary Internet Files?" click "OK."
6. Click "OK" to close the Internet Options window.
Internet Explorer 4 or 5 (Mac)
1. Click on the "Edit" menu (OS 9) or the "Explorer" menu (OS X), then click on "Preferences."
2. In the list on the left, click the triangle next to "Web Browser". You will get another list. Click on "Advanced."
3. In the History section on the right, click the "Clear History" button.
4. When it asks, "Are you sure you want to clear your history?" click "OK."
5. In the Cache section on the same panel, click the "Empty Now" button.
6. Click "OK" to close the Preferences window.
Netscape 4 (Windows and Mac)
1. Go to the "Edit" menu and click on "Preferences."
2. Click on the plus side to the left of the "Navigator." You will get a list. Click on "History."
3. Click on the "Clear History" and the "Clear Location Bar" buttons.
4. Click on the plus sign to the left of the "Advanced" option and then click on "Cache."
5. Click on "Clear Memory Cache" and then on "Clear Disk Cache."
6. When it asks if you are sure, click "OK."
7. Click on "OK" to close the preferences menu.
Netscape 6 or 7 (Windows and Mac)
1. Go to the "Edit" menu and click on "Preferences."
2. Click on the triangle to the left of "Navigator." You will get a list. Click on "History."
3. Click on the "Clear History" and the "Clear Location Bar" buttons.
4. Click on the plus sign to the left of "Privacy and Security." You will get a list. Click on "Cookies."
5. Click on the "View Stored Cookies" button. In the window called "Cookie Manager" click on the "Remove All Cookies" button.
6. Click on the "OK" button to close the Cookie Manager.
7. Click on the plus sign to the left of "Advanced." You will get a list. Click on "Cache."
8. Click on "Clear Memory Cache" and then on "Clear Disk Cache."
9. Click "OK" to close the Preferences menu.
