Brad Wreyford
Bio and Artist Statement

Brad Wreyford is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana.  He received a BFA in sculpture from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisana.  He’s recently moved to Nashville after some years of traveling.   He is a non-objective painter influenced by nature, industry, and all things old, used, and abused.
His style is one that’s developed from the exposure to different industrial materials and chemicals.   He paints mostly on wood panels. The characteristics of the panels allow him to build a history, a narrative, that canvass cannot. His philosophy toward art is a simple one: “Intentional art is inevitably an expression of what an artist has gathered with his senses over time.   Sometimes the act of making art is a conscious recording of these gatherings, something planned.  For me this is not the case.   Most of my successful paintings take time to develop.  I’m like a treasure hunter looking for gold in deep cans of paint and tar.”
