Teena Stern
Bio and Artist Statement
Georgia-based artist and former professional dancer Teena Stern produces her work in bronze.  “Far beyond what I could do in dance, with clay I can take the body to its limit,” says Ms. Stern.  “Now, my hands continue the choreography.”  She creates in clay, makes a mold, and casts each piece individually.

Sculptor Teena Stern graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University and toured for 11 years with the Carl Ratcliff Dance Theatre.  Upon her retirement from dance in 1981, Teena pursued her interest in sculpture, studying in Washington, D.C., New York, and Italy.  Her sculptures can be found in collections throughout the United States, including public commissions for Life of Georgia, The Carter Presidential Center, and the Woodruff Art Center.
