Marek Bohemus
Bio

Born in Wroclaw Poland in 1955, the artist remained in his country of birth until moving to the United States in 1980.  His European upbringing makes Marek Kacki a unique medical and artistic resource in South West Nashville.

With a love for the arts along with a desire to create, he started expressing his talent early in elementary school.  The economic reality of Eastern Europe made basic art supplies scarce, leaving him to use simple substitutes such as toothpaste and commercially powdered pigments as his medium.

Far above his love for the arts was the encouragement to follow family tradition & passion, and practice medicine. VISAGE MedArt has brought about the opportunity to merge these two avenues. Humbly protecting his lifetime of work as a physician and growing tired of traveling alone, he created bohemus, his alter ego and fellow traveler who helped his work and life maintain privacy.

After years of creating, he was invited to show his work publicly with Anne  Brown at The Arts Company in Nashville in 2001. He is deeply satisfied for the opportunity to concentrate on his inherent talent, combine his two passions of medicine and art and experience the joy of expressing himself creatively.

Majesty of the Horse

Set A:
Keeneland Race track in Lexington Kentucky.  The background of the track and stats board was removed by Photoshop to show purely the outline of the horses.  Look closely at the incredible symmetry in the position of the horses legs, heads, even their nostrils. The power and strength is evident.

Set B:
Individual/Group photos of our personal horses  All 4 of the horses are Registered American Quarter Horses.  Images were taken 2006-2009.

The Sorrel colored horses have been personal pets of our family for the last 17 years.  The Dunn (Tan Colored) horse"Trouble",has been my wife's horse since she was 13yrs old - she raised him from a 2 yr old and we buried him on our property in April 2008, on Palm Sunday just 4 weeks before his 32nd birthday. He had been her pet for 30+ years and died with his head in her lap. The loss was very difficult and the bond, very sweet.

The Sorrel (copper color) with no markings at all is our mare (Female) Rio.  The Sorrel with the star on his forehead is Chic Man;  a long descendant of Man-0-War.  Chic Man spent the first 5 yrs of his life on the Quarter Horse Race Track.  The Sorrel with the white stripe down his face is Skip.  Skip was trained and used for Civil War Re-enactments and was by far the most dramatic of our equine. He belonged to our 13 yr old daughter Sophie and was a dear friend to all 3 of our children.  He died unexpectedly 2 days before Christmas 2009 from a brain hemorrhage.  The Dunn (Tan Colored) is Trouble J Bar - a Western Pleasure Quarter Horse and long time pet of my wife. He died 2 years ago at the age of 32.

Set C:
Black and white photos show images of the barns/sheds on our property called Beech Grove, built in 1850, in South West Davidson County, Beech Grove became part of the National and Tennessee Historic Registers in 2007. I find it fascinating to see how the light plays beautifully between the old boards.  The historic environment, home, barns and land, all provide an enriching place to live, work and play and raise our children.
