Why Sitemason is a good fit?
Today's web world is becoming more and more specialized and as a result, designers and website managers are being turned to more and more often for all of the answers. Sitemason wants to make content management and web hosting one less thing that designers need to worry about.Partnering with Sitemason allows designers to do exactly that, design. However, you are in no way limited in the services you offer your clients. You can continue to provide as many or as few services as you wish and also control your client relationships in whichever manner you care. Think of Sitemason as a trusty tool in your toolbox... with amazing features and incredible support.
Partnering Opportunities
We are constantly looking for partnership opportunities large & small. Sitemason will form a partnership with your organization in just about any way that fits your business model. Any combination of design delivery, development, customer interaction, support & billing is workable. Some common ways of partnering:
- Designer as designer alone - Sitemason manages the entire project and customer relationship and the designer delivers a layered Photoshop (PSD) file. Sitemason handles all billing, hosting & support and pays the designer for their work.
- Designer as project manager - Designer handles all details of a project and design and Sitemason handles template development and monthly billing, hosting & support and retains position as main customer contact.
- Designer as developer - Many designers acquire development skills along the way and prefer to code their own projects. Our developer resources and PHP templates make this a great match. In this relationship, the designer designs, codes, and delivers site to customer and Sitemason handles billing, hosting & support.
- Designer as reseller - Often times designers are web masters and in addition to managing design and website decisions, they also create and manage all site content. If the customer never knows Sitemason exists, that's fine with us too. Designer handles all customer interaction & billing and Sitemason bills designer directly at discounted rate for hosting & partner support, but not to the individual clients.
The Basic Process
All projects are different so there's no standard way to progress through the delivery of a site, but most of the time they go something like this:- Consultation - This is where the designer, client and Sitemason get their ducks in a row and hammer out project rolls, schedule & deliverables. Basically defining the scope of the project.
- Design - The designer will take the requirements and translate that into a design... this is where designers earn their keep.
- Development - This is generally where the design is handed over to Sitemason for template development. Sitemason will also usually quote a time frame and billable hours with most projects, and their delivery date begins based on when a design is delivered as a layered PSD.
- Content - There can be some overlap with the development phase here, since the Sitemason account is active and content can be created with the Sitemason tools while development is completed.
- Revisions - Sometimes it's a design tweak and sometimes it's a functionality face lift, but there's almost always some time in a project devoted to revisions.
- Delivery & Training - After the project is completed, we usually setup training with the client to get them started on how to use the Sitemason CMS and completely manage their site going forward.
- Hosting, Billing & Support - In most partner relationships, but by no means all, Sitemason handles the hosting and regular monthly billing of the client's website. All Sitemason sites also include technical support for the Sitemason CMS and Email services. Details can be found on our support site.
