Owner of Bishop's Salon and Day Spa, Mitzi Bishop is a native Nashvillian. She began working in her father's salon at age 15 and soon enrolled in beauty school. By age 17 she was working as a hairdresser and learning all she could about the business from her father who was known not only as a talented hairdresser, but also an astute entrepreneur. The following year, her father died suddenly. Devastated by his death and at a loss for what to do next, she decided to move to Los Angeles to further her career. There she initially worked at the renowned Cassandra 2000 with Geri Cuzinza. Over the following nine years she apprenticed and worked under a number of world-class hairdressers. In 1988 she returned to Nashville and opened Bishop’s Salon and Day Spa. Since then, Bishop’s has become one of Nashville's most successful high-end salons. They’ve has been featured in Harper's Bazaar, Town & Country, and Elle among others. As well, Bishop’s has been named one of America's Top 200 Fastest Growing Salons eight times by Salon Today.
Mitzi attributes the salon's success to the ardent training program all of her stylists must go through. She lives with her husband Jerry and son Timothy.
My dad told me once in an off-handed way that I just must be a lucky guy. That with all the twists, turns, and confusion, things just seemed to work out for me. And actually, as it turns out, he was right. Career-wise it showed up in that after no less than 6 different career transitions, my occupational destiny found me. And now, as full-time practicing psychologist and director of The Counseling Center at Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, I get to be engaged in the courageous healing and sacred transformation of the hundreds of clients I care about.
Additionally, I get to join the professional and personal fulfillment of my graduate students as adjunct professor at Trevecca Nazarene University, where I teach master and doctoral level courses in Ethics and Professional Standards. But by far, my best fortunes have come within the ‘rapture and rupture’ of 26-years of marriage to my irresistible wife Debbie (on whose ring I inscribed and intend “all my love for life”), and through out the over 20 years of rollicking and wrestling with the three best sons on the planet: Bub, Kev and Chris. I really do lead the blessed and charmed Scottish-Irish life of love for God and family (…and Tennessee football)!
