Frances Barkley
A self-taught baker and businesswoman, Frances Barkley knows all about doing whatever it takes to guide a business to success. After using half of her divorce settlement to launch Tennessee T-cakes in 1993, Barkley now sells over one million Tennessee T-cakes per year to customers around the world. She has gone from pawning her diamond earrings (multiple times!) in order to afford extra ingredients and employee wages and from driving a cargo van across the South for four months selling T-cakes at Christmas fairs to being featured on Oprah when Tennessee T-cakes were lauded as one of the four best cakes in the country.
Barkley has guided Tennessee T-cakes from their online marketplace into Nashville restaurants and into specialty stores in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Most recently T-cakes have entered the retail marketplace via Whole Foods and Krogers. Noting that T-cakes are not “a cake, candy or cookie but a confection,” Barkley bakes delectable treats from an old Southern recipe that appropriately comes complete with a romantic legend of a Southern girl who won a Southern officer’s heart with her Civil War-time T-cakes.
Barkley lives in Nashville and has three grown children.

My dad told me once in an off-handed way that I just must be a lucky guy. That with all the twists, turns, and confusion, things just seemed to work out for me. And actually, as it turns out, he was right. Career-wise it showed up in that after no less than 6 different career transitions, my occupational destiny found me. And now, as full-time practicing psychologist and director of The Counseling Center at Christ Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee, I get to be engaged in the courageous healing and sacred transformation of the hundreds of clients I care about.
Additionally, I get to join the professional and personal fulfillment of my graduate students as adjunct professor at Trevecca Nazarene University, where I teach master and doctoral level courses in Ethics and Professional Standards. But by far, my best fortunes have come within the ‘rapture and rupture’ of 26-years of marriage to my irresistible wife Debbie (on whose ring I inscribed and intend “all my love for life”), and through out the over 20 years of rollicking and wrestling with the three best sons on the planet: Bub, Kev and Chris. I really do lead the blessed and charmed Scottish-Irish life of love for God and family (…and Tennessee football)!
