William Ellis, London. Best 12-bore percussion shotgun, ca. 1850. Weight: 6 ½ Lbs. Stock Dimensions: 14 3/8”x 1 ½”x 2 ½”x 1/8” cast-off. 31” Damascus barrels, with fine bores (.744”/.744”) and minimum wall thickness of .035”/.038”, retain most of the original rich brown finish. Breeches retain much of the original color hardening and the nipple recesses and nipples do not show a lot of use. The locks retain much of the original hardening colors, though fading a bit, and are mechanically absolutely perfect. Most of the original black remains on the beautifully engraved mounts. The nicely figured stock retains virtually all the original finish and the checkering is crisp as if cut yesterday. Overall a very fine original gun showing little evidence of use.
