Magnificent pair of silver mounted, brass barreled, French flintlock holster pistols, ca. 1775.  Overall length 14 ½”. Superb 8 ½” 2-stage, tapered, brass barrels flared nicely at the muzzles and beautifully engraved at the breeches. Silver foresights and perfect bores. Highest quality rounded locks are nicely engraved and mechanically perfect. Stunning, hallmarked, silver mounts with virtually all the original pure gold Ormolu gilding in the background, including trigger guards, pommels, wrist escutcheons, side plates, and ramrod pipes, are all deeply chiseled depicting  baroque floral scenes and stands of arms. Intricately relief carved and nicely figured dark walnut stocks have some minor handling marks but no damage or repairs. Original horn tipped ramrods. Overall an exceptionally fine and rare pair of pistols in near mint original condition throughout.
