Purdey, London. Extraordinary matched pair of 20ga. light weight self-opening sidelock ejector game guns each with an original factory set of extra barrels, the entire set made in 1992. Weight of each gun is 5 ¾ lbs. Stock dimensions: 14 ¼”x 1 3/8”x 2 ¼”x ¼” cast-off. All four sets of 27” barrels are superb, being of chopper lump construction, with original 2 ¾” chambers and all having mint bores measuring between .614” and .615”. Each gun has one set of barrels choked Imp/Mod (.007”/.018”) with the second set choked Mod/Full (.019”/.035”). Actions are typical Purdey self-opening with the addition of side clips, hidden third fasteners, bushed firing pins, ejectors, and double triggers with articulated front trigger. Stunning bold scroll engraving is by A. Powell. Beautifully figured straight-grip walnut butt stocks with a single splinter forend for each gun. These magnificent shotguns are in the original maker’s motor case and come with spare parts for each gun including ejector springs, main springs, and firing pins. There are also two thumb screws for each lockplate allowing conversion to Holland-style hand detachable locks and this is one of the very rare Purdey guns so equipped. The whole set remains in mint condition throughout and I seriously doubt you will ever see a finer pair of 20ga. Purdey game guns for sale.
