September 2 - The Governors Task Force on Methamphetamine Abuse today delivered its final report outlining a series of recommendations to serve as the basis for Governor Phil Bredesens strategy to address the methamphetamine epidemic in Tennessee. In all, the Task Force delivered more than 30 recommendations falling under seven fundamental cornerstones for an effective strategy to attack meth abuse.

September 1 - The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has established rules and guidelines to govern the safe and responsible cleanup of properties that have been contaminated by clandestine methamphetamine labs. April 27 - Bredesen Calls for Tougher Meth Criminal Penalties
Governor Phil Bredesen today proposed stiffening criminal penalties for methamphetamine possession to bring them more in line with penalties for cocaine and crack possession. Bredesen made the proposal during the first meeting of the Governors Task Force on Methamphetamine Abuse, a 20-member panel charged with developing a comprehensive strategy for attacking the proliferation of meth in Tennessee. The Governor said he plans to confer with the leadership of the General Assembly over the next few days in an effort to pass a bill before the end of the legislative current session. April 22 - Governor Appoints Meth Task Force Members  
Governor Phil Bredesen today named 20 Tennesseans from across the state to serve on the Governors Task Force on Methamphetamine Abuse. Members of the Task Force represent a broad cross-section of expertise, including law enforcement, health care, education and human services. The panel also includes 12 ex-officio members who will provide general advice and counsel to the core group. Please click here to read more.

April 7 - Bredesen Establishes Meth Task Force
