Henry Nock, London. Stunning 16-bore flintlock sporting rifle with silver mounts by Moses Brent hallmarked for 1800.  Weight: 6 ¾ lbs.  14 ½” LOP.  Superb 30” swamped Damascus octagonal barrel retaining most of its old brown finish. Front and rear sights retain much of their original fire blue finish as well. Nock Patent Breech with gold touch hole liner is absent any significant corrosion and shows little evidence of use.  Bore and breech have a light brown patina but no corrosion whatever and appears bright when lit with bore light. The lock is crisp and clean with most of its original finish remaining inside and out. The lower decorative curl of the bridle has been broken off and is missing which in no way affects the functioning of the gun. Magnificent silver mounts by Moses Brent remain in superb condition showing only slight wear at the heel of the butt plate. Highly figured walnut stock shows no wear whatever and little evidence of use. Original heavy duty loading rod. Overall a simply magnificent example of a best British Sporting rifle of that era remaining in little used condition throughout. Absolutely the best of the best.
