Journey North Itinerary

June 28: Sunlodge
•Greet campers & meet parentsHelp get them settled in and see their folks off. Campers will select bed in the Sunlodge and pull out selected items to put in their packs. Engage campers in some form of work (Food, Journal, Packing) to allow for informal mingling.
•Group meeting with some introductions followed by some fun icebreaker name games and a few very short group initiatives. •Swim Test
•Load van and trailer. Everything that goes but their van bags.
•Evening Meeting to close the day June 29 Twin Bridge Camp Ground
•Flag Raising
•Leave Camp Early
•Teach Cooking, Stove Safety, & Cleanup Procedures
•Evening Meeting to close the day

June 30: Wells State Park

•Teach Bathing & Washing, Personal Hygiene
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 1: Outdoor Adventure & Campground

•Teach pack packing, pack adjustments
•Discuss emergency procedures, lost persons, & review expedition behavior
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 2: Trail Day!  Sargent Brook Campsite
•Put In off 26 South of loop & hike west and counter clockwise backpacking.
•Talk about trails, land ownership, land permissions and why we have to hike down the road.
•Teach water treatment, trail technique, LNT ethics, camp site selection, food protection, food waste & disposal.
•Evening meeting to close the day
• Supposed to be a fantastic campsite. Gauge group to decide if we will make the campsite or stop short for the evening. Distance can be made up on day 2 if needed.

July 3: Trail Day Slide, Mtn Campsite

•Early lunch with a view on Sunday River Whitecap.
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 4: Trail Day, Speck Pond Campsite
•Lunch on top of fire tower converted to viewing platform on Old Speck Mtn.
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 5: Trail Day, Baldpate Lean-To
•Early start to a big hiking day.
•Lunch on the Table Rock spur trail. Fantastic views up the valley. We will be able to see the whole loop from here.
•Educate campers about the AT. Trail, Culture, Organizations that care for it.
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 6: Trail Day, Town Corner Campsite
•Hike off route and up the AT to the top of East Baldpate. Ranger says best 360 views in park.
•Evening Meeting to close the day July 7 Trail Day Stewart Campsite
•Teach Weather
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 8: Trail Day,  Outdoor Adventure & Campground

•Early Start to return to van.
•Shop for Groceries Re-supply
•Mail
•Laundry
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 9: Eastern Slope Campground
•Solo Time – Step Falls Nature Preserve or Sunday River Road
•Afternoon Tubing
•Go out on the town for dinner!
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 10: Eastern Slope Campground

•Climbing with International Mountain Climbing School: Echo Roof, White Horse Ledge, & Square Ledge
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 11: Eastern Slope Campground
•Climbing with International Mountain Climbing School: Echo Roof, White Horse Ledge, & Square Ledge
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 12: Moose Brook State Park & Campground
Climb Mt Washington from Pinkham Notch & Ride Antique Cog Railway Down From Weather Station

July 13: Kettletown State Park
•Road Trip to Kettletown State Park
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 14: Sarah’s Family’s House
•Road Trip To Sarah’s Family’s House
•Stay with Sarah’s Family in Front Royal, VA
•Evening Meeting to close the day

July 15: Claytor Lake State Park
•Luray Caverns on the way to Claytor Lake
•Pre-Clean Up & Trailer Organization

July 16:  SunLodge
•Arrive at camp around lunch
•Unpack
•Clean up
•Closing Ceremony & Photo Slideshow

July 17: Closing Day
•Send campers off onto future adventures
