William Evans, London. Best boxlock big game double rifle in 9.3x 74R made in 1926. Weight: 8 ½ lbs. Stock Dimensions: 15”x 1 1/8”x 2 3/8”x 1/8” cast-off. Superb 26” chopper lump steel barrels rechambered and reproofed in the mid-1980’s by John Rigby of London and regulated for the 9.3mm, 285 gr., bullet. 1/4 rib with a single fixed 100 yd. sight and two folding leaves for 200 and 300 yds. Ramp front sight with ivory inlaid flip-up twilight bead. Nicely engraved boxlock action with double underlugs, third fastener, and bushed firing pins. Double triggers, automatic safety, and extractors. Nicely figured original walnut pistol-grip stock with Silver’s butt pad and lever-release splinter forend. Refurbished by Rigby in London, ca. 1980, this rifle remains in near mint condition throughout. Original period canvas case with Rigby labels and all original accessories. Overall tight, dead on the face, and a very fine double rifle.
