Time is a medium with which we form our identity and ultimately, our legacy. Our use of time is the most revealing measurement of our values and intelligence.
Oftentimes, family heirlooms are handmade objects made precious with ritual, tedium and shared experience. Creating desirable objects and becoming objects of beauty has long been the work of women. The creation of both their craft and image is a measure of a woman's worth and tangible evidence of her time(s).
Many cultural traditions have been replaced with advances in entertainment and technology that allows us to live with higher expectations and less effort. In my work, I transform materials and concepts that are common to women's work into contemporary objects that represent how we spend our time and define our values.
