Rideshare Benefits
As our communities thrive and Middle Tennessee businesses prosper, daily commute times have increased. Highway congestion has reached some of its highest levels. Local air quality has suffered as more cars fill our roads. Fortunately, there are rideshare efforts in place to help ease traffic congestion in our area and minimize the stress of the daily commute. You benefit from ridesharing by:

  • Reducing the amount of wear-and-tear on your vehicle
  • Spending less money on gas
  • Avoiding the stress caused by a daily drive in rush-hour traffic

Environmental Benefits
With 1/3 of all air pollution in Middle Tennessee attributed to vehicles, transportation alternatives are vital for the region to meet federal air quality standards. You can help protect the environment by using mass transit (buses, vanpools, carpools and rail). One diesel bus carrying as few as 20 passengers emits 1/10 the hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide and 1/3 as much carbon dioxide as 20 cars carrying one person each. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, increasing mass transit ridership by 10 percent in the five largest metropolitan areas would save 135 million gallons of gasoline a year while dramatically reducing emissions of air pollutants. Mass transit—it just makes good sense.
