Ken Owen, Memphis, Tennessee. Massive “Mastodon” 4-bore double rifle completed in 2007. Weight: 25 Lbs. 10 oz. Superb 22 ½”, 4130 chromium/molybdenum steel barrels, with bore diameters in the true 4-bore range of 1.052”. Huge action with Greener crossbolt third fastener, and bushed firing pins. Double triggers with single-set front trigger. Beautiful prehistoric-themed full-coverage bold engraving by Bruce Bradshaw including the prominent “Mastodon” on the underside of the action body. Beautifully figured walnut stock and matching forend. This hulk of a rifle is the fifth of only six made by master gunsmith, Ken Owen of Memphis TN, and was regulated with 114 grains of Blue Dot smokeless powder behind a 2000 grain soft lead bullet which yields a muzzle energy well in excess of 9000 ft-lbs. Please take note of three of the included photos, two of which are taken with a portion of a complete, 40,000 year old, Mastodon foreleg recovered from the Siberian ice and now on prominent display in our store. Also note the one photo showing the size comparison between a .308, a .375 H&H Mag., and an Owen 4-bore cartridge. What more can I say? Gentlemen, take this to Africa and add a whole new dimension to your next safari.
