Rare LeFaucheaux .44 cal. pinfire revolver with British proof marks, ca. 1860. Extremely high quality pistol with beautifully engraved action retaining most of the original hardening colors. 6” barrel, cylinder, and trigger guard retain most of the original brilliant black finish for which the British were noted. There are no French/Belgian proofs on this pistol indicating it was, almost certainly, supplied by LeFaucheaux in-the-white to a British gunmaker who finished it out hence the British proof marks. The intended market was, most likely, American - perhaps, some Union or Confederate officer. Remarkably, this gun remains in near mint, unfired, condition and is cased in the original case with the original accessories, including 100 rounds of unfired original copper case ammunition made by Fusnot Bruxelles all remaining in pristine condition. Overall an extremely desirable Civil War pistol in immaculate original condition.
