A Letter from The Chairman of the Board

It is hard to believe that my year as SWA president has come to a close, but it has. What a successful year! The fall regionals and the convention were as great as ever.

The theme for this year’s convention, “Success by Choice, not by Chance,” gave us all the opportunity to reflect on the day to day decisions we all make and how our businesses are affected. The fall regional training sessions on Warehouse Management, provided a strong look at how the “core” of our business operates. If you missed any of these you missed out on opportunities to learn and network with our industry peers.

The summer convention featured keynote speaker David Kohler followed by the Industry Forum, where Mr. Kohler answered questions from the membership. The best practices sessions featured discussion groups on Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, and Vender Relations. The 2011 Convention closed with a great family event and roast of Mr. Jim Whitehearst.

“Success by Choice not by Chance” focused us all on what we need to do to plan for the future and how to make those choices, and not leave our business to chance.  Consistent with our theme, SWA’s Leadership Development Council and Suppliers Advisory Council both convened to aid the board in developing a strong plan for enhancing membership and membership services in 2011-2012.

Thanks to all of you that attended the Convention and the regional meetings, both venders and

Wholesalers.

Be sure to thank our manufactures’ for their overwhelming support of this year’s convention. Without their support our convention would not be possible.

A special thanks to the SWA Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Leadership Development Council, Vender Advisory Council and to the SWA staff, Terry Shafer and Linda Wilborn. The time you sacrifice for the greater good of SWA does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Thanks to you all!!

See you next year in Panama City!!!!
