Parker Field & Son’s, London. Extremely rare 6-bore flintlock big game rifle, ca. 1820-40. Weight: 14 ¼ Lbs.  Massive 30” octagonal Damascus barrel with absolutely mint bore measures 1 3/8” across the flats and retains most of the original brown finish. Bore, including breach, is bright showing no evidence of use. Breach retains most of the original hardening colors. Fixed rear sight with one un-marked flip-up leaf. Blade front sight. High quality rifle lock (tumbler has a fly) is a well executed reconversion and shows little evidence of use. All mounts, including the hinged patch box lid are of heavy brass. Stock shows a few very minor handling marks and retains all the original finish. Large diameter, horn knob tipped, ramrod original to the gun. Overall an extraordinarily rare large bore flintlock big game rifle, mechanically perfect, remaining in exceptionally fine condition throughout, and ready for Africa. Take this along on your next safari and add a whole new dimension to your hunting experience!
