Allen & Thurber  .31 cal., 6-shot, “Pocket Size” early transitional Worcester pepperbox dated 1837.  Barrels are 3” long with wide, flat, ribs between. Action and nipple shield nicely engraved and retain traces of the original finish. Nice original walnut grips retain most of the original varnish. Overall crisp, mechanically perfect, and showing little evidence of use. These were among the first of the double action revolvers produced in this country. They were extremely popular during their day and remain so with collectors today.
