Barbara Inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame

Nashville, Tenn.  -- (May 18, 2009) -- With over 75 major awards and 38 years in show business under her belt, Barbara Mandrell was welcomed into the Country Music Hall of Fame during the prestigious Medallion ceremony last night at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum.  Known as the "Sweetheart of the Steel," Mandrell was a multi-instrumentalist by the time she was 10.  She was on tour with The Johnny Cash Show by age 13 and had her first Billboard chart record at age 21.  Her NBC variety show, "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters" drew nearly 40 million viewers weekly and introduced a nation to country music.  Now, Barbara joins fellow inductees, Roy Clark and Charlie McCoy, as one of the newest members of the coveted Country Music Hall of Fame.

Barbara Mandrell Tribute Album Out on October 17

NASHVILLE, TENN. – October 12, 2006 – When Barbara Mandrell took the stage for her final musical performance on October 23, 1997, she probably didn’t realize that less than a decade later, some of the artists she influenced would come together for a tribute in her honor. But that’s exactly what is happening, and the result will be a collection of songs from one of the most significant performers of the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. She Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool: A Tribute To Barbara Mandrell will be released October 17 on BNA Records.

Great American Country Honors Barbara Mandrell

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- (September 15, 2006) -- Great American Country television network (GAC) joins a stellar array of country artists to honor Barbara Mandrell, one of country music’s most beloved and accomplished performers. Throughout an illustrious career, Mandrell scored more than 75 major awards, recorded 30 albums, hosted a top-rated variety show and was the first artist to win back-to-back Entertainer of the Year awards from the Country Music Association. GAC will feature Mandrell’s life and career in a number of specials and series during October.
