AyA, No. 1, best sidelock light weight 12ga. game gun completed 23 February, 1949, and presented to General Lucas V. Beau, post-WWII Commander of the United States Civil Air Patrol, by a group of Spanish Aviation Cadets in Madrid in 1951.
Weight: 6 ½ lbs. Stock dimensions: 14 ¼”x 1 3/8”x 2 1/8”x ¼” cast-off. Superb 28” chopper lump “chrome nickel steel” barrels with original 2 ¾” chambers, full length file-cut top rib, and mint bores (.727”/.729”), choked .018”/.043”, retain all the original finish. Best quality action with hidden third fastener, bushed firing pins, side clips and ejectors. Holland style hand-detachable sidelocks have intercepting safety sears and jeweled lock plates with gold plated internals. Action and locks beautifully engraved. Double triggers with articulated front trigger and rolled edge trigger guard. Nicely figured straight-grip stock and splinter forend retains all the original finish and all checkering crisp. The initials, LVB, inlaid in gold at the toe. Cased in original maker’s case with original proof documents and a nice silver presentation plate on the lid. General Beau had an interesting Air force career and you will find quite a bit of information related to him on the web. Overall an exceptionally fine light weight game gun still retaining a film of the original factory sperm oil and appears to be unfired.
