Purdey, London. Exceptionally fine self-opening, snap-action under-lever, hammerless double rifle in .400/.360 NE completed ca. 1902.  Weight: 9 ½ Lbs. Stock Dimensions: 14 1/2”x 1 3/8”x 2 3/8”x ¼” cast-off.  Flawless 26” chopper-lump steel barrels with mint bores, proofed for 40 gr. Cordite and 300 gr. bullet, retain most of the original black finish. Single 100 yd. fixed rear sight with a single flip-up 200 yd. blade and ramp front sight. Highly desirable self-opening, snap-action Jones screw grip action, with bar-action hammerless sidelocks …. all mechanically perfect and retaining traces of original finish throughout. Highly figured walnut stock with checkered butt and splinter forend all remain in fine condition. Overall a magnificent gun in little-used original condition, tight as a safe, and exhibiting the peerless quality of the period.
