When you create and organize a website using SiteMason, you are creating a hierarchy: A Site Builder has either pages and tools under it, or has other Site Builders with more pages and tools under that. The illustrations below show both of these scenarios. The tools used under a Site Builder can be Page Builders, Polls, Custom Forms, or other SiteMason tools. In other words, your Site Builder organizes the content for your site, while other SiteMason tools create the content of the website.

By establishing a hierarchy, SiteMason allows individuals and organizations to quickly and easily manage the layout of their website and make updates to their site instantly. You can assign responsibility for content of the sites to multiple people within your organization, eliminating one of the most common bottlenecks associated with traditional website management, where one person is responsible for all updates.

Site Builder handles much more than just the organization of a group of tools. By using Site Builder, you can change the "look and feel," or the design, of your website with the click of a button. Site Builder also stores any information that remains consistent across all pages of your site, such as the webmaster's email address, your company's mailing address or phone number, copyright, or any other piece of information that you desire. The benefit is that if you want to change any single piece of information (if your company moves, the phone number changes, and so on), you simply change it in the Site Builder and it is updated everywhere in your site.
