Holland and Holland, London. Outstanding little prewar “Take Down” bolt action Mauser rifle in .240 “Apex” made in 1927. Weight 6 ¾ lbs. Stock Dimensions: 14 ¼” LOP.  Superb 23” barrel with fine bore and virtually all the original finish. Single fixed rear sight marked from 50-200 yds. with single folding leaf out to 350 yds. Hooded front sight with hinged retractable hood. Original stock with a few handling marks otherwise in fine condition showing little use, certainly no abuse, and with slightly rounded, but un-retouched checkering. Original thin, delicate, horn butt plate in fine condition with no significant chips and absolutely no worm damage (amazing considering the age of the gun). Original maker’s canvas and leather case with exterior in well-used but acceptable condition and interior in fine condition with all the appropriate original labels numbered to the rifle. There is a label on one end of the case bearing the name, “Major F. Longueville”, who, almost certainly, would have been the original owner. Overall just a superb little rifle in every respect, very accurate, and, being an early rifle, so hard to find in this condition with an excellent bore … so nice, in fact, we had a load worked up for the gun and it comes with about 100 rounds of reloaded cartridges (100 gr. bullet at 2850 ft/sec 8 ft. from the muzzle), and all the proper dies to insure the buyer has an unlimited supply of ammo. Also comes with copies of all the original Holland Ledger entries and range regulation notes. Absolutely dynamite little rifle and quite rare in this vintage and condition! Great fun to shoot!
