The Alipa Family has been selected as the
partner family for the 2009 Women Build house. Anton and
Svetlana Alipa have four daughters ages 1-4, including a set
of twins. The family currently lives in a two bedroom
apartment. The apartment is well kept, but the
conditions are quite overcrowded due to the family size.
The children have little room and there is no play area in the
complex.
The family faces an additional challenge
of caring for a daughter that is legally deaf. She
recently had surgery in attempts to grant her the ability to
hear. However, for the surgery to be successful, she
must go through intensive therapy sessions multiple times a
week. It is extremely difficult to create the quiet
environment required by the therapy due to the small size of
the apartment. Family and friends try to assist, but it
is difficult because of the distance between their
homes. Once in Enka Hills, they will be closer to family
who can help.
The family is excited to move to
the Enka Hills community and they are grateful to Women Build
volunteers and donors who are supporting the building of their
home.
