The percentage of students at private, not-for-profit, 4-year institutions who borrowed money to attend college has shown a slight decrease in 2007-08, and the percentage of students at public institutions has leveled off since 1999-2000. At the same time, the percentage of students at for-profit institutions who borrow money to attend has continued to increase.
