Two runners from the Todd Pletcher stable are confirmed to be eyeing the Fountain of Youth Stakes, and one of them is confirmed.
Commissioner, who was flattered by Top Billing's good-looking win at Gulfstream Park last Saturday, has worked one time since defeating that one in a 1 1/8 eighth-mile allowance race at the track on Jan. 3. Last Sunday he breezed breezed four furlongs in :49:40 (18/54) at Palm Meadows. Pletcher pegged Commissioner as definite for the Fountain of Youth.
Intense Holiday finished third in the Holy Bull Stakes after breaking widest of all from post 11. A start in the Fountain of Youth would put him back in the races four weeks later. Pletcher deems Intense Holiday as being under consideration at this point. A trip to Fair Grounds or Oaklawn Park has not been ruled out.
