billyYou may have talked to us on the phone or emailed us, but let us paint a picture of who we are so you'll know how each of us can serve you!

    Meet Billy White

Sitemason template wizard and newlywed Billy White is your go to resource for building websites on Sitemason's CMS platform.

His accomplishments don't go unrecognized. Recently Billy was awarded "Employee of the Week" honors after selflessly replacing our soap-dispensing sponge brush.

Here are some of Billy's recent projects he has launched by closely working with our partners:

Billy spends the rest of his days training developers on Sitemason's platform, and nights dreaming up the next addition to our ever-increasing PHP Library.

billyIf you've haven't had the chance to interact with Billy yet, we'll begin to endear him to you by showing off his precious wedding photos; He recently married the girl of his dreams, Katie.

Luckily Sitemason CEO Tim Moses brought a handful of his seven children to the wedding so we had enough people for an impromptu Sitemason dodgeball match. We'll tell you more about Tim next month!

  • Today we added a new PHP method to our ever-growing framework. This is a simple way to add related articles for your blog or news feed. The tag-based call by default grabs the 5 most recent articles using tags it detects in the currently viewed article.

See documentation and an example on developer.sitemason.com.

  • We're taking a quick poll to see what feature our users want in the Sitemason CMS. If you'd like to see something else entirely, email support@sitemason.com with a suggestion!

  • Along with Vanderbilt's website redesign, the Sitemason-powered calendar got a fresh look.

The calendar is driven by Sitemason tools. Various Vanderbilt users are able to submit events and then administrators can approve and edit events.

Visitors to the site have robust filtering, searching, and exporting options. Here are some of the calendar tool's robust features.

To add a calendar tool to your website, log into Sitemason, click "add a tool" and add a calendar tool.

  • Enroll in Sitemason's Automatic Online Billing option to save you the hassle of getting your bill through the mail and save trees in the process!

If you'd like us to automatically charge your credit card and get email invoices each month, enroll for free today.

  • On May 1 and 2, Nashville was hit by major flooding. Sitemason's office was unaffected and no website services were affected. We host services on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) so we have server redundancy across the U.S.

Flooding reached some staff members' garages, but no one was hurt. Some of our friends and clients closer to the Cumberland River and in some Davidson and Williamson county neighborhoods were more greatly affected.

We have been in awe of our community during these last few weeks as we've seen our town come together to support neighbors who've lost loved ones and homes.

  • It has been possible to add forms to sidebars in Sitemason templates all along. However, once the form is submitted, the user is taken to a confirmation page away from whatever page they were on. When it comes to just a simple contact form or quick survey, it would be a whole lot better to have the form submit (or show errors if necessary) in the same location on the original page. It can be done with hacks like using an iframe, but that has its drawbacks.

Chip Hayner of CentreSource just asked for a better way, so I added an option to the Custom Form to submit in place. Chip used the feature in Nashville Office Furniture's website to allow people to submit info about projects. If you were to fill out the form (and please don't unless you really want to submit a project), you would see the confirmation page in the same location.

  • Just as Sitemason has expertise in content management, the Sitemason family has niche expertise of its own. Sitemason's platform allows for these niche strengths to organically create something not only new, but essential.

When long-time Sitemason user Mimi Bliss of Bliss Communications learned of Tom McElroy's need for a new website for Thomas McElroy Consulting, she thought of Sitemason.

"I recommended Sitemason because it's local, reliable, cost-effective and easy to use," Bliss said. "I've been a Sitemason customer since the company was founded and always refer people to Sitemason first."

Sitemason in turn recognized the expertise of partner Kristen Beahm of Beahm Design, who created the design for the website. Sitemason then converted these design files into a template.

"Development is in really good hands, so I can focus on my client's marketing and visual design goals without distraction," Beahm said.

McElroy wanted to highlight the expertise of his company, which among other things, "builds dynamic strategic marketing plans, creates powerful provider networks, enhances the effectiveness of boards of directors, and increases market share for healthcare organizations."

Now he has a website that grew from the Sitemason ecosystem of partners and users.
