Sitemason - Build on Us

Heroes In Our Community

Imaginary heroes possess super human powers, wear exotic costumes and save the world from crafty villains who have developed elaborate plots to take over the world for their own selfish interests. When you were young, how often did you pretend to be a caped crusader, tasked to rid the world of some sinister force that was unleashed through the elaborate, dastardly plot of an evil genius?

Well, we have heroes at Sitemason and, while we can’t attest to their secret powers or any enhanced accoutrements to their wardrobes, we believe they are making the world a better place through their efforts as non-profits, mostly in our own neighborhoods right here in Nashville, Tennessee. We have decided to support these organizations by donating our services to them and, in some cases, volunteering to help further their mission in the world. Here are a few of the non-profits in town whose work we admire and support:

Owl's Hill Nature Sanctuary logoOwls Hill: Located on 160 acres of protected green space, Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary mission is dedicated to: environmental education and research; restoration of native flora and fauna; conservation and protection of natural resources and; appreciation and enjoyment of nature. It is also home to several live owls that were injured in their native environment. After completing rehabilitation, these owls were unable to be returned to the wild because of permanent injury. They now serve as wildlife ambassadors and help educate people about issues concerning respect, care and preservation of wild animals.

Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee logoLegal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands is a private, non-profit organization that provides free legal services to people with low income. Legal Aid Society has a general priority statement applied to all its programs: “We will give priority to cases and matters in which we can assist in preserving the home, obtaining housing, maintaining economic stability, preventing domestic violence, obtaining health care, and/or encouraging family stability.”

Marth O'Bryan Center logoThe Martha O'Bryan Center empowers children, youth, and adults in poverty to transform their lives through work, education, employment and fellowship. Currently, Martha O'Bryan Center serves primarily children, youth, and families living in and around Cayce Place, Nashville's oldest, largest, and poorest public housing development. Throughout its 118-year history, Martha O’Bryan Center has worked to address immediate and long-term needs to help Nashville’s most vulnerable families more fully realize their potential.

The Belcourt logoThe Belcourt Theatre is a unique Nashville treasure with a vibrant historic past and deep roots in the community. They cultivate and build on the powerful sense of shared experience that audiences can achieve — taking advantage of our building’s physical character and location in the heart of a lively Nashville neighborhood.

Tennessee Women's Theater Project logoThe Tennessee Women’s Theater Project’s mission is to present theatrical productions of the highest quality to Middle Tennessee audiences; to produce plays that express the human condition in the female voice; to provide acting, directing, design and management opportunities for women in professional theater; and to bring live theater to new, underserved audiences.

Pencil Foundation logoPENCIL Foundation is the premier organization linking community resources of both volunteers and materials with Metro Nashville Public Schools. PENCIL administers eight educational programs that involve the community as volunteers and mentors, provide academic enrichment opportunities, prepare students for graduation and get school supplies in the hands of children who need them.

Luke 14:12 logoLuke 14:12 is one of the oldest continually operating soup kitchens in the Nashville area.  It is the goal of the Board of Directors that a variety of faith communities, individuals and businesses join together in a common purpose to feed those who are unable to feed themselves.

Nashville in Harmony logoNashville In Harmony is proud to bring a unique style and voice to the Nashville arts scene. These are just a few of the heroes whom we admire and support every day. We hope that you will be inspired by their work and join us in honoring them through donations, volunteerism and sharing the good news of their work in our community.
